? was way ahead of Prince and Led Zeppelin as far as using a symbol for a name.
Agreed - what the hell took so long to get "96 Tears" on CD? _________________ Of course you have a life. I don't need to tell you that. |

96 Tears was part of the ABKCO hostage situation. Allan Klein, the same guy who delayed the initial release of the Rolling Stones back catalogue back in the '80's, thought he could drive up the value of the remainder of his holdings by making it unavailable on CD. (Perhaps he was envisioning auctioning off his doo-wop and garage rock masters on eBay? Or selling $30 "Best of ? Mark" CDs?)
The end result was a resounding "we've got other stuff to buy" from the market, and everything sat in the vaults until last year. Amazingly, in addition to 96 Tears, the original version of The Twist by Chubby Checker was in the same collection. Anything issued prior to 2005 was likely a bootleg or a rerecording. If anyone would like my 96 Tears 7" with a terrible mid-90's recreation of the song (albeit by all original members!), you will have to wrestle it away from Humphrey.

Hey PodPals...
Stop writing 2006 on your checks, and start sending in some lists. We need your end of the year lists. This could be your overall Top 25 Most Played, songs you added in 2006 (date added between 1/1/2006 and 12/31/2006) or songs that came out last year (Year is 2006.)
Send them with a self-addressed stamped envelope to:
Poddish
P.O. Box Ddish
Podville, Podsylvania 90125
Or send them to me. Either way works. OK, only one way works.
