...I always do it wrong.
I just noticed that Pete Shelley's Homosapien ranks higher on my list than the Buzzcocks' Love You More and consequently any other Buzzcocks record. To my credit, I heard Homosapien well before any of Pete's Buzzcocks stuff, and thanks to the Trouser Press Record Guide's direction, digging Homosapien led me directly to Singles Going Steady. Great explanation, but it doesn't address the fact that both songs were added to iTunes around the same time. Despite Singles Going Steady being one of the greatest albums of our time, I'm busted for giving the edge to the synth-pop solo song. So sue me... I'm Totally 80's.
And as for the nay-sayers on my Stereolab omissions, you're right. They are in short supply (until the 1995 lists go up, at least.) My highest ranked Stereolab song is, again... strangely, the only Stereolab cover I've ever heard: Iron and Wine's genius take on Peng!33.
I may have odd priorities but I'm consistent. And thanks to Poddish, everyone gets to see!

And I think of your eyes in the dark and I see the star
And I look to the light and I might wonder right where you are
All the gods in the sky way up high see the world spinning 'round
But the sun and the moon and the stars are so far from the ground _________________ Your work looks good. Your look works well. |
